Obama Site Hacked, Defaced? Or Hoax?
March 31, 2008 by · Leave a Comment
Barack Obama’s hope.net site was HACKED AND DEFACED by someone who wrote “spread the word! Barack Obama has no safety measure on his web site! Will his administration have no safety measure?” [UPDATE 3:36 PM 3/31/2008: At the day of that posting “www.hope.net” still has the defacement, but “hope.net” does not. Is that a hoax? The red writing looks neat and tidy and without mispellings….

World’s Fastest Connection Used Mostly For Laundry
March 31, 2008 by · Leave a Comment
I told you in July about how a soon after 75-year-old woman in Sweden owns the world’s fastest home Net connection — 40 gigabits per second — considering her son is Cisco executive Peter Löthberg, who set up the connection as an experiment. A local Swedish news site called The Local followed up with the woman, and it turns out she uses her high speed (and very hot) connection equipment mostly to DRY LAUNDRY.

Colombian Spy Had Chips Embedded In Breast, Jaw
March 30, 2008 by · Leave a Comment
The New York Times reports today that computers belonging to the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) contain knowledge that a spy working for the Colombian government was found by FARC to have TWO MICROCHIPS EMBEDDED IN HER BODY — one under a breast and another under her jaw. The chips would most likely be RFID chips that would enable the Colombian government to track the movements of FARC rebels using hidden readers. The computers, whether authentic (which they probably are, according to the Times), additionally show that Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez has been financially supporting the FARC, putting Venezuela into the same category as Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan and Syria as a “state sponsor of terror.”

Anti-Koran Film Posted Online, Crashes Site
March 27, 2008 by · Leave a Comment
I told you Sunday that Network Solutions shut down a web site created to host the 15-minute anti-Koran film “Fitna,” made by Dutch politician Geert Wilder. So Wilder posted “Fitna” on the web site of his political party, the PVV. However, at the instance of that posting, it appears that GOD’S WRATH SMOTE THE SITE or, more likely, traffic by all the humans who want to watch the film has overwhelmed the site’s servers. Here comes the (very graphic and disturbing) VIDEO.

Japanese Gravestones Let the Living ’shout’ the Dead
March 25, 2008 by · Leave a Comment
A Japanese gravestone maker called Ishinokoe (Voice of the Stone) plans to sell GRAVESTONES WITH BARCODES embedded in them. Anyone with the right kind of cell phone can simply scan or snap a picture of the stone, and get data on the departed. The barcodes will be QR codes, otherwise known as “matrix codes” or two-dimensional bar codes. (props to CScout Japan)
